CULTURE
CREATIVE
ART CLUB
The Art Club provides a vibrant, creative space for our juniors to explore and develop their artistic skills beyond the regular curriculum. Through fun, hands-on learning, members create both individual and collaborative art projects throughout the year. The club also plays a key role in strengthening the Art Department by nurturing and growing our young artists.
MUSIC
Music is an integral part of the Culture facet of Danville. Danville Voices, the school choir, has had the honour of singing at many events over the years. These have included Eisteddfods,
music festivals, Toyota Retirees Function, and at a City Address given by the Mayor. Their unique blend of modern and traditional songs and passionate delivery has played a part in their growing reputation and popularity as a choir.
We are also very proud of our Amagugu Singers and Dancers, who are part of our Amagugu Heritage Society. They bring traditional songs and dance to life at a variety of events, including outstanding results at the Zululand Eisteddfod.
DRAMA
The Drama Department is a vibrant and dynamic space where learners are immersed in the excitement of theatre performance and exposed to a wide range of dramatic genres. Through participation in productions, they experience the joy of creative expression while developing confidence, discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Each production journey challenges learners to grow both as performers and as individuals, often resulting in lasting friendships and a deeper understanding of themselves. Learners also have the opportunity to showcase their talents in our state-of-the-art theatre, providing a professional and inspiring performance environment.
MEDIA
NEWS@DANVILLE
Our news@Danville team brings the school to life on social media. They craft the visual identity that showcases who we are and what we do, turning photographs and videos into engaging stories that connect our school with the wider community.
PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB
The Photography Club empowers our learners to master the art of drawing with light, transforming their everyday school experiences and surroundings into stunning works of art. Our most talented photographers are appointed as Photography Monitors, guiding and supporting newer members while serving as the school’s official photographers.
RELIGIOUS & HERITAGE SOCIETIES
Our various religious societies meet during the school day.

Amagugu Heritage Society
The Amagugu Heritage Society is a group of girls who come together to learn more about the traditional customs of the isiZulu culture, mainly dance. The girls produce dance routines across different genres, such as traditional, gqom and gumboot dances.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
DEBATING
Debating is a popular co-curricular activity at Danville, with Senior and Junior teams competing in the Durban Coastal Debating League (DCDL) and a range of regional, provincial, and national competitions.
The programme develops confidence, critical thinking, public speaking and teamwork skills, while encouraging learners to engage thoughtfully with current issues and communicate effectively.
Each year, Danville also selects a team to represent the school at the annual National All Girls’ School Festival, providing valuable opportunities for growth, collaboration and competition.
TOASTMASTERS
This internationally acclaimed programme is offered to Grade 10 and 11 learners at Danville. Through the Toastmasters Club, learners develop confidence, communication, leadership, and public speaking skills in a supportive environment. Interactive speaking opportunities and constructive feedback help learners express themselves clearly, think critically, and lead with confidence, while working towards an internationally recognised Toastmasters certificate.
